What AI has done to The Internet

For me, AI has brought encouraging progress. My series Ask AI actually ranked high enough on Google before the release of Chat-GPT's open beta that it remained popular, and I was able to convert the page to what people actually wanted - a way to interact with these complex language models.

This feature showcases what I think will be the next stage of the internet. Web3 was distributed computing; web4 is distributed intelligence. That sentence doesn't actually make sense, but if it did, it would be pretty cool. I think the next iteration of how people experience the internet is on-demand content.

We've already seen the customization of feeds and prioritization of specific content to drive engagement. Now with generative AI, we not only can select the content to highlight, we can generate what gets engagement.

In this new year, I'm passively interested in this media revolution, but I don't think I'm really motivated enough (at least without an external structure in place) to pursue it enough to make it a living.

This is just a placemarker here so I can say I called it.

The Internet

I'm the person who created this website and wrote this article! I sometimes like expressing myself, so I thought I'd mark out a little corner on the internet just for myself.
