In a small town grocery store, a doe-eyed 8 year old boy named Kane found himself shopping for the first time alone. Gifted a few dollars by his youthful 25-year-old mother, the enormity of the colorful, towering aisles made the task seem daunting. As luck would have it, an unusually interesting encounter was about to take place. In the middle of the store, two well-dressed women chattered enthusiastically in Russian. Sophia, a 25-year-old brunette in a chocolate hued dress, and her friend Ana, a captivating 29-year-old wearing an elegant blue one, had become regular fixtures of the local scene. Kane approached them courageously, only interested in the tantalizing candy bar they were blocking. Ana noticed the timidity in his small figure and addressed him in her heavily accented voice, "Uh yes? May we help you? You look very little. You're here alone?" With all his mother's cautions about strangers ringing in his head, Kane quickly responded, "Mommy says no to talking to strangers. I just wanted the candy bar. Sorry." Ana's eyes danced with amusement, then dropped to her own heels before bending down low. A playful glint twinkled in her dark eyes as she said, "I will help you reach candy bar like me." Ana's hand found Kane's small shoulder. Suddenly, he was overwhelmed with dizziness and his surroundings spun before darkness took over. When Kane regained consciousness, he felt odd. Glancing sideways, he noticed Sophia was now only slightly taller than him. His gaze fell, taking in the stunningly stylish dress hugging his small body, the heels aligned perfectly on his feet and a chic purse delicately hung over his shoulder. Seeing his altered reflection in a nearby mirror stunned him. He tried to step forward, tripped over the heels and, in frustration, kicked them off. Confused and panicked, he exclaimed, "What happen? I did nothing wrong. Just want candy bar cause mommy send me to store to be big boy. Now I'm big girl no?" He immediately covered his mouth, shocked by the distinctively feminine accent textured in his voice. Sophia, fully aware of her friend's body swap with Kane, approached the boy-now-turned-woman - the one wearing Ana's body. She then silently asked about their next steps. Ana, showing a surprising quick adaptation to her new body, demanded a memory wipe until the boy in her own body thought he was Ana. As the Russian women continued to shop, laughing and exchanging words in their native language, the transformed Kane caught his reflection once more. There was a twinkle in her eyes, one that hinted at a forgotten past. Gazing at her newly acquired feminine image, the unfamiliar feeling of something amiss refused to leave her, no matter how misplaced it seemed, given that she had no recollection of being 8-year-old Kane.
