Once upon a time, 15-year-old Alex was given a large responsibility by his 19-year-old friend, Matt. The task was to watch Matt's house while he was away; to keep the home safe and clean. The task was well within Alex's abilities, but there was one special instruction – watch out for Brooklyn, Matt's ex-girlfriend. Brooklyn, aged 24, had a questionable reputation. She was known for pestering Matt and even stealing from him. Alex was prepared to report any sightings or disturbances. The young boy had the house to himself. It was peaceful and all was right. Alex decided to do some house-sitting work to pass the time. Cleaning the living room and kitchen was a walk in the park, and though the bathrooms were a different story, he managed to scrub them clean. Matt's room was the last on his schedule. A bit dirtier than the rest, Alex tidied it up with diligence and care. As he cleaned, he stepped into a pair of flip-flops that lay on the ground, causing him to glance down. He was struck by the sight of pink glittery flowery flip-flops which obviously weren’t Matt’s. He recognized those as Brooklyn’s favourite shoes. She was famous for her loud flip flop walk, something Alex remembered all too well. Heart pounding, he quickly removed them and reached for his phone to text Matt. As he was typing the message, an eerie sensation overcame him – his feet started aging rapidly. He looked down and was horrified to witness his feet changing into Brooklyn's, complete with her signature purple nail polish! As the transformation spread its way up, Alex panicked. He still tried to resist it, but to no avail. His height shrunk down to Brooklyn's petite size, his hair morphed into long, straight brown locks and his eyes turned into a beautiful brown. His outfit changed into a pair of short shorts and a top with "PINK" plastered across it. Last of all, a promise ring, that Matt had gifted to Brooklyn before their breakup, materialized on his finger. In the midst of Alex's shock, a profound change occurred in his mind. All memories of Alex vanished, replaced by Brooklyn's life. She stared at her reflection in the mirror, running a finger lightly over the promise ring she wore. Picking up the abandoned flip flops, she slid them on and crossed the room, her loud walk echoing around the house. She found Alex's phone on the floor, and seeing the unfinished message to Matt, deleted it. She smirked as she voiced an audio message for Matt. "I know you still love me, baby. We are meant to be together. I'll stop at nothing until you start believing in us again. Nobody will be able to stop me." Her laughter echoed in the eerily silent house. She admired herself in the mirror, still chuckling at the thought of Alex watching over the house. Little did she know, he was nowhere around. In a cruel twist of fate, he had become Brooklyn herself, leaving no one to stand between her and Matt.
