Walking in the Shadow of the Gate

As you lay in bed, there's a sudden surge of energy coursing through your veins. The room starts to spin, filling with bright, iridescent light. You feel stronger, yet an unfamiliar sense of rigidity sets in. You reach up to touch your face, finding a smooth, cold surface where there should be warm skin. From your perspective, you catch sight of your limbs forming into something more mechanical than human. You feel no panic as your body continues to transform; in fact, you admire the way the smooth purple armor forms on your new form, the color standing stark against your skin. Your hands and feet become stronger, equipped with intricate working parts that make them both beautiful and formidable. On your head, a helmet forms with a distinguished design – a pair of metallic blades running up the visor, casting an intimidating shadow onto your armored face, and a diamond-shaped blue gem embedded in the center of your forehead emitting a light that seems picked directly from the purest depths of the ocean. Your chest transforms next, pieces of forged armor locking into place around your new frame. A pentagonal blue gem, similar to the gem on your forehead but larger, embeds itself in the center of your chest plate. As you look down at the shining intricacy, you can't help but marvel at your new form. To finish off your transformation, a white lab coat materializes around you, falling over your purple armor in a shock of brightness. The coat is trimmed with accents and cuffs made of pure gold which add refinement to your form, the elegance only further intensifying the power radiating from your new body. Your mind spins with activity as your reality changes before your eyes and the mundane world morphs into the technologically advanced world of Mega Man X. Familiar, yet alien, you grasp this new reality. Suddenly, a rush of memories that aren’t your own flood your mind. Born as a human but living as a Robot Master, every pain, triumph, and dream of Gate comes rushing into you.
