Tips for GSRs on How to Represent Their Group More Effectively

As GSRs (General Service Representatives), your primary role is to serve as a vital link between your group and the district and area levels. In order to effectively represent the voice and needs of your group, consider asking the following questions: 1. What are the most pressing issues or concerns affecting our group or its members? Seek out feedback from group members before meetings to ensure you are addressing relevant topics. 2. How can we share our group's experiences and insights on any recent local, district, or area initiatives or events in order to contribute to the collective knowledge and growth of AA? 3. Are there any upcoming workshops, conferences, or events at the district or area level that our group should actively participate in? Encourage your group members to take part in these events to foster unity and collaboration. 4. How can our group effectively collaborate with other groups in the district and area to address common concerns and share resources? 5. Are there any service opportunities at the district or area level that our group should be aware of, or participate in, to help strengthen our service structure and engage our members in the wider AA community? 6. How can we convey our group's support (or concerns) for any proposed changes or policies at the district or area level that may impact our group or its members? 7. What resources and tools are available from the district and area committees to help our group make informed decisions and be more effective in carrying the AA message to newcomers and existing members? 8. Are there any guidelines or best practices from the district or area level that can help our group improve its internal processes, such as elections, finances, or meeting formats? 9. How can we ensure that our group's voice is adequately represented during district and area committee meetings, as well as at the annual conference? 10. Are there any updates or changes in the AA literature or resources that our group should be aware of? Stay informed about new or revised materials, and share those changes with your group members.
