The Triad Experiment: A Debate Between the Heads

Once upon a time, there was a brilliant teenaged girl named Zoe. She was unequaled in the field of biomechanics and neuroscience at her tender age, earning her the nickname "the Mad Scientist." One night, after an exhaustive day of school, Zoe decided to test a new invention of hers - a neural amplifier meant to increase her brain processing capacity. With the flick of a switch, a jolt of high voltage coursed through her body. In a dazzling flurry of multicolored sparks, Zoe blacked out. When she awoke, Zoe felt different, heavier. As her eyes opened, she saw not one, but two identical faces mirroring her surprised expression. They were attached to her body. Immediately, she deduced the amplifier had malfunctioned and she now had three heads. The first head, "Zoe-One", was clear-headed and rational, much like Zoe herself was typically. The second, “Zoe-Two” was a dreamer, filled with creativity and idealism. The third, “Zoe-Three” was quirky and adventurous, always looking for fun. "Alright," Zoe-One said pragmatically, "We have three heads. We must reverse the effects of the amplifier." Zoe-Two, the dreamer, replied dreamily, "But think about it. Three heads are better than one. Imagine the ideas we could create, the dreams we could dream." And, Zoe-Three chimed in, "Imagine the adventures we could have! Being unique is fun!" Zoe-One sternly said, "With one head, we already stood out as the 'mad scientist'. Now, we’ll just be the 'freak'. Plus, having three heads is impractical. Clothes, doors… not to mention, sleeping will be a nightmare." "But the possibilities are endless!" Zoe-Two argued, "imagine the art projects, the inventions we can come up with." "I actually agree with Zoe-Two," Zoe-Three piped in, “As for practicality, we’ll manage somehow. Plus, we look kind of cool!" Zoe-One sighed, frustrated at the predicament she found herself in and the internal debate that ensued, "Alright. Let's make this democratic. I vote for reversal. Zoe-Two and Zoe-Three?" In unison, Zoe-Two and Zoe-Three said, "Remain as we are." Exasperated, Zoe-One declared, "Fine. But! We will only stay like this until it becomes impractical. The moment it does, we are going back to a single head. Are we clear?" As Zoe-One relaxed, the other two enthusiastically agreed. Meanwhile, Zoe-One started working out the practicalities of life with three heads. Much to her chagrin, everyday turned out to be an adventure, much to the delight of Zoe-Three and inspiration to Zoe-Two. And so, began their adventures as a Mad Teenage Scientist with Three Heads. And they might have remained that way forever, but that’s a story for another time.
