Region: The Mariposa Valley Members: The Mariposa Tribe, the Achomawi Tribe and the Tututni Tribe Physical Features: The Mariposa Valley is a wide and beautiful valley with rolling hills, wide open meadows and crystal clear streams. The valley is bordered by evergreen forests and is surrounded by tall mountains and forests. The climate is mild and temperate, with warm summers and cool winters. Natural Resources: The Mariposa Valley was home to an abundance of wildlife, including a variety of deer, elk, and various game birds. Salmon and trout were plentiful in their streams and rivers. The Valley had plentiful fruit and nut trees and a variety of edible plants. Homes: The tribes built their homes out of materials found in the Valley, such as wood and stone. The homes were typically dome-shaped structures called "Keeras". Clothing: The tribes primarily wore clothing made from animal skins and hides, as well as fabric made from natural fibers such as cotton, linen, and wool. Arts and Crafts: The Mariposa Tribe were known for their basket weaving and beadwork. The Achomawi and Tututni Tribes were renowned for their wood carving and pottery.
