Question: A crossover between Sonic the Hedgehog and Avatar: The Last Airbender entitled, “Sonic and the Last Airbender”. It is set after the Smoke and Shadow arc. During a battle with Dr. Eggman while trying to rescue Cream the Rabbit and Cheese Chao, Sonic caused Eggman’s machine to use Chaos Control sending him and his friends into Aang’s world. Multiple references from Sonic X, past Sonic games and past Avatar episodes are included. Now Sonic and Aang join forces as they find Sonic’s friends with Aang’s friends across the world to help bring them back to their world and find the Chaos Emeralds. Team Chaotix; Espio the Chameleon, Charmy Bee, Mighty the Armadillo, Ray the Flying Squirrel, and Vector the Crocodile appear in the forest of the Freedom Fighters led by Smellerbee since Jet’s death in Ba Sing Se and they fight Team Chaotix thinking they’re Fire Nation spies. Sonic and Aang find Tails with Sokka while Knuckles fights with Toph Beifong at her Metalbending Academy, thinking she has the Master Emerald that he was sworn to protect, but she has only a Chaos Emerald. Katara was kidnapped by Eggman because she had a Chaos Emerald, and in Eggman’s base in the South Pole, Amy Rose helps her escape and bond with her about their love interests. Aang, a very powerful Bender with Katara, and Amy with Sonic. They get along while fighting Eggman’s robots and reunite with their respective friends at the South Pole. One night, Sonic and his friends tell Team Avatar about their past experiences with Dr. Eggman, such as restoring the planet when he split it apart into a “planet sized jigsaw puzzle”, turning Sonic into a Werehog, going back in time to take over Little Planet, and having to turn animals from their world into Badniks, his robot army. Aang and company tell Sonic about their friends, which they would meet in the morning. They even mention Jet, Storm and Wave of the Babylon Rogues as Aang and his friends mention how they lost their friend, Jet of the Freedom Fighters, who was fatally wounded by Long Feng when they were looking for Appa in Ba Sing Se. Big the Cat was in the Foggy Swamp looking for Froggy, and saves him from the Swampbenders. Later, Shadow, Rouge and Omega appear in the Avatar world, studying the history of the Fire Nation for GUN (the Guardians of United Nations). And while looking for the Chaos Emeralds, they confront the Kyoshi Warriors who were bodyguards for Fire Lord Zuko, and Shadow takes on Zuko, with Omega fighting Uncle Iroh. Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat appear as well when word of Sonic and company were in another world. Shadow uses Chaos Control to his advantage against Zuko, but he also uses a red Chaos Emerald that energized his Firebending. Rouge the Bat helps Shadow, but Mai, Zuko’s ex-girlfriend intervenes, but supports Zuko’s rule as Fire Lord. The battle escalates until Sonic, Aang and company arrived to stop the fight. Meanwhile, Eggman Nega under the diguise of his dimensional doppelgänger, Eggman, makes an alliance with Princess Azula help him against his enemies, and he would help restore her sanity. Meanwhile, Dr. Eggman, Orbot, Cubot and his AI daughter, Sage take over Lao Beifong’s Earthen-Fire Refinery, turning it into a robot factory. Suki, Sokka’s girlfriend and Ty Lee come to Zuko that they found Azula and she and her Fire Warriors had taken Cream and Cheese hostage at the Garden of Tranquil Souls, the Fire Nation Royal Family Graveyard where Zuko and Azula last fought while rescuing the children of the Fire Nation. Iroh tells Sonic and his friends to be careful confronting Azula. “She’s crazy, and she needs to go down.” Shadow and Zuko join forces, but their trust between them was built slowly, while the Fire Lord told Shadow that Azula was his to fight. On the way to the Fire Gardens, Sonic and his friends see Team Chaotix on a case to save Cream and Cheese as they were hired by Cream’s mother, Vanilla. However, when they heard Sonic and Aang were helping royalty, Team Chaotix made a group huddle and agree to work together, just so they can get paid by Fire Lord Zuko, as royalty had loads of money. While Rouge recovered a Chaos Emerald, Shadow got her out of the way because he said it was a trap made by Azula, who was frustrated that she wanted Zuko to fall for it. Blaze confrontd Azula, demanding where she took Cream, and the Fire Nation princess was planning on making Blaze her pet, which she denied. Zuko then told Sonic, Aang and their friends would sneak into the Fire Warriors hideout while Zuko fights Azula. Before their fight, Zuko learns how to use Chaos Control with the red Chaos Emerald from Shadow, using it to his advantage against Azula. Sonic and Team Avatar save Cream and Cheese who politely thank their Aang and company for saving them, and Toph helps Knuckles recover the Master Emerald. However, their escape was stopped by Azula’s Fire Warriors, and Team Chaotix gave Sonic and Aang time to escape while they fight the Fire Warriors. Zuko uses Chaos Control against Azula along with his Firebending. Azula smirked that she was going to make her ambush on Zuko, but heard from Aang that her Fire Warriors were defeated, and Cream and Blaze reunite. Before Azula could strike, Silver the Hedgehog used his psychokinesis to hold her in place while Ty Lee chi blocks her, capturing Azula. Big the Cat then reunites with his friends, Amy Rose and Cream, making Team Rose reunite. Team Chaotix meet Fire Lord and ask for him to pay them for their detective services, to his confusion. All of a sudden, Dr. Eggman Nega arrive to confront Sonic, his friends and Team Avatar. He told them that he was pulling Azula’s strings, playing her like a violin that he wouldn’t keep his end of the deal restoring her sanity. He then sends his Metal Sonic 2.0 against Aang and Sonic. Both of them use their powers as Super Sonic and Aang’s Avatar State, unaware that Eggman Nega was using his Metal Sonic to copy Aang’s data and elemental bending abilities as he fled. Sonic and company board Tails’ Tornado X and Aang and company fly on Appa to chase after Eggman Nega. They chase him at Lao Beifong’s refinery which Eggman had turned into his “EggmanLand Refinery” for his Eggman Empire. While Aang was shocked at this, Toph said “[she’ll] never understand Eggman’s tastes” and Sonic agreed as they went in. Eggman’s Metal Sonic tries to slow them down, but Sonic and Aang manage to beat him as they give chase. He and Eggman Nega create Mecha Aang, a Metal Sonic version of Avatar Aang to defeat Aang. But he sends both the Eggmen away to fight the real Aang his way. Aang told everyone to stay back as their fight was between him and his mechanical doppelgänger. They both fought, but during the fight, the area was covered in steam. While Aang cautiously looked for Mecha Aang, Shadow sees him and kicks the robotic Avatar, sending him to Aang. Just as Aang was about to lose, he used the Avatar State to recover, and Mecha Aang uses his Avatar State in the fight. The area was about to crumble, and as the falling debris was tumbling down, Mecha Aang says to his organic counterpart, “There can be only one.” Mecha Aang then pushes Aang out of the way as the debris falls on top of him. Sonic and Aang’s friends saw that Aang defeated Mecha Aang, but the real Avatar claimed he pushed him out of the way. Seeing that sacrificial act, Amy saw that it reminded her of a friend she lost; E-102 Gamma who fought with his brother, E-101 Beta, destroying each other to free a bird’s family in the Egg Carrier. Satoru, an engineer of the Earthen Fire Refinery came out and told Aang and company everything. Satoru was working with Lao Beifong, until Eggman came with Eggman Nega taking over. They tried to call Colonel Mongke and the Rough Rhinos, but they were no match for Eggman’s Badniks. Lao Beifong told everyone to evacuate and Satorh hid himself in another room until Eggman was gone, which Aang and Toph confirmed. Sokka had an idea to have him and Tails upgrade his boomerang. When thrown, the boomerang would shock his enemies on impact, and Tails took some wires from Mecha Aang’s head. Satoru told Sonic and his friends that he could make a portal to send him and his friends back to their world, but it requires Chaos Control. In the meantime, Aang and Team Avatar showed Sonic and his friends different places of their world. On Ember Island, Zuko was going to have a vacation with Ty Lee and Mai, as he and Shadow learn from one another about what made them who they are. Shadow was fueled to be the Ultimate Life Form by Professor Gerald Robotnik in the Space Colony ARK, until he lost his friend, Maria Robotnik who was shot by a GUN soldier, and told him to give humanity hope and a chance to be happy before she died by gunshot in the Soace Colony ARK, and that Shadow was sent to his Earth by capsule. Feeling Shadow’s loss, Zuko tells Shadow that he also lose someone important to him… During the Harmony Restoration Movement, Zuko had lost Mai who broke up with him, claiming he “loved his secrets more than her”. He ordered her to come back, but to no avail, and that he got the scar on his face for questioning his father, Ozai’s battle plans during the Hundred Year War, which resulting in an Agni Kai, Ozai flaming Zuko’s face, and banishing him. Rouge thinks that Zuko and Shadow were a lot alike, and Mai hated to disagree with her. Zuko even explained that he lost his mother, Princess Ursa when she was banishing for the death of his grandfather, Fire Lord Azulon, until he found her with the help of Aang, Katara, Sokka and Azula, until she tried to kill their mother and ran away. But Ursa was safe along with Kiyi. Zuko’s Team then had a match with Sonic’s Team in a match of Kuai Ball. Then, Sonic snd company went with Aang to the Northern Air Temple where they meet Teo and his father, the Mechanist on upgrading Sokka’s Boomerang. The upgrade; the “Boomerang Shocker”. Once it hits the target, the Boomerang Shocker would electrocute the enemy. Now Sokka had two boomerangs; one, his normal Boomerang, and the other, his Boomerang Shocker. Team Avatar then get a message from a messenger hawk, which Sokka recognized to be Hawky from The Runaway episode. The message was from Satoru that the device at the Refinery was ready to return Sonic and his friends back to their world. Momo the flying lemur and Hawky fly around Sokka, having another fight. At the Refinery, Sonic and Shadow use Chaos Control with their Chaos Emeralds, making a portal with Satoru’s device to send them back to their world. As Sonic and his friends were leaving, they make their goodbyes to Team Avatar, gaining their respect and friendship, and Sonic hoped to see Aang again to have a race to see who’s the fastest. Aang chuckled at that, saying it will have to happen the next time they see each other. At the end, where Mecha Aang was, he was still trapped under the rubble, and he reactivated his systems with one of his eyes glowing, signaling that he will return to face the real Avatar Aang again.
That storyline has a lot of potential! Here are some tips to fine-tune it and make it even more engaging and cohesive: ### 1. **Character Dynamics and Development:** - **Sonic and Aang:** Highlight their leadership qualities and the ways they inspire each other. For instance, Sonic's impulsive nature could be tempered by Aang’s calm, meditative approach. - **Supporting Characters:** Make sure each character has specific moments to shine and contribute to the plot. For example, Tails’ technical skills could be crucial in navigating through Eggman's traps, while Sokka’s strategic mind could come up with unique battle plans. ### 2. **Conflict and Resolution:** - **Eggman and Azula:** Develop their alliance further to show how their combined cunning and power pose a significant threat. - **Shadow and Zuko:** Their initial mistrust should evolve into mutual respect. Make sure their interactions are meaningful and show character growth for both. ### 3. **World-Building:** - **Integration of Sonic’s World:** Show the impact of Sonic's world mechanics in the Avatar universe, such as Chaos Control affecting the elemental balance. - **The Setting:** Pay attention to the different regions they visit, incorporating unique elements of the Avatar world (like the Omashu delivery system or the Ba Sing Se wall) in their journey. ### 4. **Themes and Messages:** - **Unity and Friendship:** Emphasize the theme of different worlds and people coming together to overcome a common enemy. - **Sacrifice and Redemption:** Highlight characters like Mecha Aang showing unexpected qualities, such as sacrifice, adding depth to the conflict. ### 5. **Pacing and Structure:** - **Action Scenes:** Balance high-octane action with quieter, character-driven moments. Allow breathing room between events to develop relationships. - **Climactic Battles:** Ensure that the final confrontations are epic, with stakes clearly defined and each character’s role contributing to the outcome. ### 6. **Visual and Audio Elements:** - **Cross-Compatible Aesthetics:** Integrate the distinct visual styles of both universes. For example, Sonic’s bright, fast-paced style with Avatar’s elemental, martial-arts-based movement. - **Music and Sound Effects:** Imagine the soundtrack blending both worlds' iconic themes. The use of different music styles can enhance the narrative tone. ### 7. **Easter Eggs and References:** - **Sonic and Avatar References:** Cleverly insert references for fans of both series to discover. For instance, have subtle nods to Sonic’s past games or memorable Avatar episodes within dialogue or scenery. ### 8. **Follow-ups and Sequels:** - **Open-Ended Notes:** While you conclude most major arcs, leave subtle hints for potential future crossovers or continuations, as you have done with Mecha Aang's reactivation. ### Example of Refined Scene: **Battle at Fire Nation Royal Family Graveyard:** - **Initial Conflict:** Tense standoff with Azula taunting Sonic’s group. - **Clever Tactics:** A combination of Sokka’s boomerang with Tails’ gadgets creates a surprise move that temporarily disorients Azula. - **Character Interplay:** Knuckles and Toph bickering yet finding synchronicity in battle, leading to comedic yet effective teamwork. - **Emotional Notes:** Azula’s breakdown while Sonic and Aang showcase compassion even towards their enemies, reflecting their heroism. This approach ensures an engaging, well-rounded crossover that respects both source materials while providing an exciting, original story.
