Question: Story: Write me a story about 7 year old James shopping alone for the first time with the money his 28 year old mom gave him. Walking through the store by himself was a special treat as he decided on what candy he wanted. Spotting, he noticed a woman standing right in front of it. Saying excuse me to the woman, she jumped back telling him "you scared me". The woman was 40 year old Julia aka Lonely Heart. A homeless woman who looked good for 40. She had her brown hair neck length. She was wearing a tan tank top, jean short short, leather wedges with a black purse on her shoulder. Usually singing or thinking about her favorite songs like All Night Long or Oops I Did It Again or Single Ladies. Today she was singing All Night Long out loud when she suddenly decided to ask James if he had any more money on him with a smile on her face. James said he only had enough for one item feeling guilty. Julia smiled warmly noticing his sympathy and reached out for a hug. Hugging her back, James felt dizzy. Opening his eyes, he noticed he was slightly taller. Looking down, he saw he was wearing the tank top, short shorts, leather wedges with the purse now on his shoulder. Going through the purse, he saw unfamiliar stuff like cigarettes and a lighter, nail polish, makeup, lip stick, tampons and pads. James decided to remove the purse from his body and take off the wedges deciding they were too girly. Spotting his body, he started walking over to it. On the way there, he noticed the nail polish on his hands and feet freshly coated and removed it saying "Ew. Girly stuff" in Julia's voice. James caught up to his body and started panicking saying he was not supposed to be like his mommy. Julia smiled as she said she switched bodies with James cause he didn't have any money and to enjoy life as a 40 year old homeless woman. Hearing 40 startled James knowing he was over 12 years older than his own mom. James' memories slowly changed and matured until he only remembered the harsh life of being Julia. The new Julia wondered why she was barefoot and were had her purse went also noticing her nail polish was gone from her fingers and toes. The new Julia said the quote "Why am I barefoot? Where are my wedges and where is my purse? Come on Julia. You're too old to be leaving yourself vulnerable like this" Finding her wedges and purse abandoned in an aisle, the new Julia put her wedges back on her feet and picked up her purse throwing it over her shoulder. She then pulled the nail polish out of her purse and started applying it to her fingers and toes again. The new Julia said the quote "I love painting my nails. Takes me back to the days where I was little girl. That was over 30 years ago. My God! I'm old" A little girl ran past the new Julia causing a reaction exactly like how the real Julia would behave and the new Julia simply yelped "Oh God! You scared me sweetheart" Suddenly the song Singe Ladies by Beyonce came on over the grocery store radio. The new Julia couldn't control herself as she started singing along to the song out loud. It was one of her favorite songs after all. The new Julia then strutted out of the store ready to find a place to sleep for the night before grabbing one of her cigarettes and smoking it. The real Julia was happy to finally be free from her old and homeless life while James was just getting started in his new sad life as the homeless woman named Julia.
Once upon a time, there was a bright and curious seven-year-old named James who had been entrusted with a special responsibility—shopping. He was excited to venture out alone, armed with money his hardworking twenty-eight-year-old mom gave him. His target? The candy aisle. As James rounded the corner and his eyes fell on his sugar-coated goal, he noticed a woman blocking his path. Standing in front of the candy display in a tan tank top, short denim shorts, and leather wedges was Julia, the songster of the streets. Known as Lonely Heart, she had brown hair that fell to her neck and an ageless beauty about her, despite visibly tough life circumstances. Always humming or singing her favorite tunes—the likes of "All Night Long," "Oops I Did It Again," and "Single Ladies"—today, she was engrossed in Lionel Richie's hit, "All Night Long." Feeling bold, James cleared his throat and said, "Excuse me." The woman leaped in surprise and chuckled, "You scared me." Her warm, welcoming smile made James let his guard down. When Julia inquired if he had any spare change, he regretfully admitted that he only had enough for a candy, his eyes shadowed with guilt. Julia noticed his sympathy and moved in for a bond solidifying hug. During these moments of warm embrace, James felt a wave of dizziness swirl around him. When he opened his eyes, the world looked slightly different. He was taller and in the mirror's reflection; he saw himself dressed in Julia's outfit with her black purse hanging from his shoulder. His heart pounded in his chest as he peeked into the purse to see a strange mix of adult items including cigarettes, a lighter, nail polishes, and tampons. With an "Ew, girly stuff," in Julia's voice, James tossed back the purse onto his shoulder. Frightened, he started looking around for his familiar seven-year-old self. When he finally caught the sight of his original young body, it was inhabited by Julia, and a wave of even more panic rushed over him. Julia laughed and confessed the body switch was her doing; she wanted to sample a youthful life again, leaving James in her aged and homeless existence. Grappling with the stark reality of being more than a decade older than his own mother, James watched as his memories merged with Julia's, his childhood receding. As though a cocoon had been unpeeled, the new Julia confronted her new reality—she was a homeless, 40-year-old woman. Everything was experienced like she had stepped into someone else's shoes. The absence of the wedges and purse unnerved her until she found them accidentally abandoned in the aisle. Applying the polish on her nails, she sighed, "I love painting my nails. Takes me back to the days where I was a little girl. That was over 30 years ago. My God! I'm old." Her demeanor mimicked Julia's with uncanny precision when a little girl sprinted past her—she jumped and yelped, "Oh God! You scared me sweetheart." The store radio filled the air with the pulsating rhythm of Beyonce's "Single Ladies," igniting a spark in the new Julia. An irresistible urge to sing along gripped her as she found herself mouthing the lyrics out loud before exiting the store with an air of resolution to settle in for the night. Her new life as Julia, as difficult and sad it was, had begun. Meanwhile, back inside the store, Julia reveled in James' body—the old life and struggles left behind for the innocence and possibility of youth.
