Introduction The purpose of this proposal is to outline who should be included in a Task Force designed to create a medication assistance program. By bringing together an appropriate group of individuals, this Task Force will be able to identify the needs of the population and develop an effective plan to increase access to needed medications. The stakeholders range from prescribers and discharge planners, financial navigators and patients, suppliers, and subsidy providers. A group facilitator will also be needed to keep the group focused and on track to meet the goals of the program. Prescribers Prescribers within the medical community should be invited to the Task Force, as they are the primary source of medications for individuals. They will be able to provide valuable insight on what medications are needed and the best ways to access them. They will also be able to provide guidance on dosage, frequency, and side effects. Discharge Planners An important stakeholder in the medication assistance program is discharge planners. They are responsible for ensuring that patients are able to access needed medications after a hospital stay. They will be able to provide guidance on the best ways to ensure that patients are able to continue to maintain access to their medications. Financial Navigators Financial navigators will be an essential part of the Task Force, as they will be able to provide guidance on how to navigate the complex system of insurance and government subsidies. They will be able to identify potential financial assistance programs and help the Task Force develop a plan to ensure that all individuals are able to access needed medications, regardless of their ability to pay. Patients Patients should also be invited to the Task Force, as they are the ones who will ultimately benefit from the program. They will be able to provide critical insights on the obstacles they face in accessing medications and the impact that the current system has on their health and wellbeing. Suppliers In addition to the above stakeholders, suppliers of medications should be included in the Task Force. They can provide insight into the supply chain of medications and the challenges that exist in ensuring that medications reach the people who need them.
