It was Halloween night and Charlie Brown had a plan. He was determined to capture the Great Pumpkin. With a clever plan to use a net and some help from his friends, Charlie Brown felt confident that he could do the impossible. The night was filled with cool, autumn breezes and the stars twinkled brightly overhead. Charlie Brown and his pals marched through the pumpkin patch to find the Great Pumpkin. As they neared their destination, they heard a faint whisper echoing through the crisp air. “Be careful, Charlie Brown, for I am the Great Pumpkin!” Charlie Brown was shocked to hear the voice of the Great Pumpkin, but he stood his ground and bravely threw the net at the Great Pumpkin. The net missed, and the Great Pumpkin managed to escape. As the Great Pumpkin ran away, a mysterious figure appeared in the moonlight. It was the Headless Horseman! The Headless Horseman was a legendary figure and supposedly had no head! The Horseman spoke to the Great Pumpkin and told him he would be safe with him. The Great Pumpkin was instantly enchanted and agreed to become his friend. The Horseman suggested they bake Charlie Brown in a delicious dessert as revenge for trying to capture the Great Pumpkin. The Great Pumpkin and the Horseman concocted a plan and made a delicious pumpkin pie. The next morning, Charlie Brown awoke to find himself inside a giant pumpkin pie. He had been baked into the pie! Disgruntled, but not broken, Charlie Brown vowed to find the Great Pumpkin someday. Though Charlie Brown never did capture the Great Pumpkin, he did learn a valuable lesson that night. He learned that friendship, no matter the form, is a powerful thing. The Great Pumpkin and the Headless Horseman remain friends to this day.
