Declaration of Independence from Haslett High School We, the students of Haslett High School, in order to affirm our rights, promote liberty, and enhance our academic and social lives, hereby declare our independence in the face of longstanding grievances. We acknowledge the importance of academia and the role the school fulfills in shaping our futures, but we also believe a fair and nurturing environment is paramount for our growth and wellbeing. Firstly, all individuals are endowed with certain inalienable rights; the right to voice their concerns, the right to a safe and supportive environment, the right to quality education, the right to fair treatment, and the right to free thought free from undue pressures. Furthermore, we hereby enumerate the following grievances against the school administration and the teachers: 1. Lack of Transparency: The administrative decisions affecting the student body are often made without proper communication or regard for student input. 2. Insufficient Support: Despite numerous requests in the wake of increased academic pressure and mental health awareness, the school has failed to provide adequate counseling and support services to its students. 3.
