Lwazi Chess Club Meeting Minutes Date: 23 May 2023 Time: 10:00am Venue: 48H11 Manzana 2 Attendees - Nontuthuko Mpanza - Siyabonga Mpungose - Thembinkosi Nkosi - Additional Members 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Nontuthuko Mpanza, the President of the Lwazi Chess Club. 2. Roll Call All of the main members, Nontuthuko Mpanza, Siyabonga Mpungose, and Thembinkosi Nkosi, were present. There were also additional members in attendance. 3. Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting The minutes from the previous meeting were presented, and it was unanimously agreed that they accurately reflected the matters discussed and decisions made. The minutes were therefore approved. 4. Financial Update Siyabonga Mpungose, the Treasurer, provided an update on the club's financial status. The club has healthy finances and has been able to cover its expenses, including the costs of chess equipment, membership fees, and upcoming tournaments. 5. Club Membership The club membership has grown over the past year, and members were encouraged to keep inviting friends and family to join. The benefits of club membership, such as access to training materials, coaching sessions, and participation in tournaments, were highlighted. 6. Upcoming Chess Tournament Thembinkosi Nkosi, the Secretary, announced details of an upcoming chess tournament. The dates, venue, and format were discussed, and it was agreed that all members would participate and help promote the tournament. 7. Chess Coaching The club discussed the ongoing chess coaching sessions that have been helping members improve their skills. Members expressed satisfaction with the coaching and noted improvements in their playing abilities. The club continued to support the hiring of qualified coaches for future sessions. 8. Any Other Business Nontuthuko Mpanza invited members to raise any other business. No further issues were raised. 9.
