Question: Write me a story about 12 year old Kennedy at home with her mom April and her 18 year old sister Courtney or "Candy" as she preferred to call herself. Courtney was arguing with April as per usual the last few years. "I hate you. You're the worst mom ever. I'm gonna just call you April from now on" she screamed at her mom. April responded "Do whatever you want. I miss the little girl that used to love me unconditionally" Courtney stomped off to her room turning around to ask Kennedy "You're on my side right Ken?" Kennedy responded with "No Courtney, you need to be nicer to mom. She's all we got" Courtney angrily stomped off to her room slamming the door. Later that day, Courtney ran into Kennedy in the house asking her "Can we talk? I wanna apologize for earlier but the conversation needs to be private. Come to my room" Kennedy followed Courtney back to her room when Courtney suddenly pulled Kennedy onto the ground and had her in a grip she couldn't get out of grabbing a pair of her own platform sandals and slipping them onto Kennedy. Kennedy fought saying "You're crazy Courtney. Let me go. I thought you were gonna apologize to mom" Courtney responded "Screw her! I can't wait till your transformation is complete. You'll agree with everything I say in no time. When were you born again?" Kennedy said "I was born June 15, 2011. What do you mean transformation?" Suddenly, Kennedy noticed her feet shrinking and thinning into a perfect fit in the platform sandals complete with a black glittery toenail polish. Kennedy had fear in her eyes realizing the polish matched Courtney's favorite color. Her hair grew long and straight turning black. Her eyes changed from green to brown. Her freckles all disappeared as her skin gained an artificial tan. She gained piercings in her ears, tongue, nose, eyebrow and belly button. Her outfit changed into a crop top, short shorts and an expensive pair of sunglasses formed over her eyes. Kennedy looked in the mirror with tears in her eyes saying "I don't wanna hate mom. Please Courtney. Mom don't deserve this" Courtney only laughed as Kennedy suddenly felt her mind changing, her love for her mom diminishing as her memories altered until she forgot Kennedy completely and only remembered herself as Courtney. The real Courtney let go of the platform sandals on her new doppelganger's feet finally witnessing her creation. The real Courtney asked "What do you think of the platform sandals Kennedy?" The new Courtney scrunched her nose saying "Who is Kennedy? Do I look like a Kennedy? Are you dumb? I'm Courtney hun. I prefer Candy though. I love these since I'm the one who bought them. I already knew they'd look good on me" The real Courtney asked "When is your birthday?" The new Courtney responded "August 23, 2004" The real Courtney asked "What do you think about mom?" The new Courtney responded "Oh you mean April? She's a total hag. I can't wait to move out" The real Courtney then asked "You wanna go yell at her with me?" The new Courtney responding "Absolutely. She's the worst thing to ever happen to me" The 2 Courtneys then walked to their mom's room ready to yell at her for no reason as April wondered where Kennedy had gone.
April stood in the kitchen preparing dinner when her daughters appeared before her. They looked identical, same black hair, same brown eyes, and the same scowl. “Hey April, what’s for dinner... more stale spaghetti?” one of the them asked sardonically, leaning against the kitchen counter. April sighed and turned off the stove, bracing herself for the impending argument. "Actually, yes. As long as you keep spending my income on your outrageous shopping habits 'Courtney', we will have to compromise on food. You could also perhaps help out instead of criticizing?" April retorted, her voice steady despite her internal turmoil. The two girls laughed in response, their resemblance uncanny. April peered at them, her heart sinking as she looked at the girl who was once Kennedy. "Courtney," the real Courtney began, "tell April when we're moving out." "Definitely soon. Maybe when April gives us our 'lovely' Christmas gifts," the imitation Courtney chuckled. A lump formed in April's throat at the sight of her transformed younger daughter. April knew she couldn’t give up, not when Kennedy, despite the conspicuous change, was still her daughter. "Alright then, Courtney," April addressed the real Courtney firmly, "enjoy your spaghetti while it lasts." The two "Courtneys" traded looks of uncertainty. As they turned to stomp away, April held the transformed Kennedy's arm. "Even if you don't remember," she said softly, her eyes lovingly studying the perfect stranger in front of her, "I can never forget. You will always be Kennedy to me." She gently let go of Kennedy's arm, a quiet oath hanging in the air, promising to bring back her sweet Kennedy from the shadow of Courtney. As both Courtneys stomped off, April got ready to continue cooking, but not alone, not anymore; she was now fueled by a mother's resolve. Over dinner that night, April vowed to discover the fantasy world her eldest was trying to enforce on her youngest and save her Kennedy. The road ahead was not easy, but April knew she had to traverse it, for the love she had for both her daughters. She hoped, perhaps, to find the sweet Courtney too, which she had lost years ago. So they started living in a house divided, with April on a mission of compassion and love to bring back her daughters from their misguided rebellion.
