Involuntary Beth

Title: A Soul Swap in Universe C-137 Beth, a renowned horse surgeon and mother of two, had seen strange things in her life, but this night held its own. After a night of indulging in a bit too many celebratory drinks at the intergalactic bar to commemorate another survivable adventure with her father, Rick, Beth decided to tinker with a device she found in Rick's garage. In her drunken stupor, she inadvertently activated the machine, causing a bizarre malfunction. To her surprise, The device emitted a pulsating blue beam that reverberated around the room, finally landing onto her daughter, Summer. Suddenly, Summer fell into a trance-like state, utterances of confused speech spewed from her lips. Through her drunken haze, Beth realized that her daughter now firmly believed that she was Beth. And as the universe would have it, Summer- who now believed she was Beth, was sharp and resourceful. She somewhat retained the knowledge of her mother, alongside a new assertiveness and determination. The home was clouded with confusion, disarray, and chaos as the personalities of the two most important women of the family spiraled out of control. Things took a darker turn when Summer-Beth, driven by dark memories, blamed Beth for her haunting past. Believing herself to be the actual 'Beth,' she sought 'retribution.' She stumbled upon a laser gun in Rick's garage, believing it to be just the right 'tool.' With a heavy heart echoed in manic laughter, she pointed the gun at her 'impostor mother.' As the chaotic scene unfolded, her own memories faded into oblivion. Filled with the memories and experiences of her mother, she felt a familiar fear creep up on her. Not one to back down, she fired the gun, causing her mother to dissolve into atoms. Summer, now entrenched in the illusion of being Beth, lived the life of her mother. She played both roles of the horse surgeon and mother to Morty, while her memories as herself were faint shadows in her mind. Rick, returning to find his daughter gone and his granddaughter living her life, declared the situation a distasteful and complicated mess. "This is total crap," Rick mused as he took a sip of his flask, contemplating another way to restore order in the Smith house. After all, in the grand multiverse, there was always room for another adventure, another 'solution,' no matter how intoxicatingly absurd.
