How to Fail Less: 5 Ways to Address Barriers to Execution

A project that I recently failed was to launch an online store selling handmade jewelry. Cognitive barriers: I had very little experience online marketing and was unfamiliar with the best approach. Affective barriers: I was overwhelmed with the amount of work I had to do to get the store running and found it difficult to prioritize tasks. Motivational barriers: I lacked the focus and drive to carry through the project and often procrastinated. Resource barriers: I had limited funds to set up the store and no access to necessary resources. Political barriers: I had no contacts or connections with potential suppliers or customers. The barriers could have been addressed differently by doing more research into setting up the store, breaking tasks down into manageable chunks and setting realistic goals, setting up a budget and sticking to it, and networking with people in the industry.
