Her duplicates shared a single hive mind - all with her unique appearance and the same shared emotions. The only caveat, each clone drained her stamina significantly. On a good day, she could manage five copies, and eight copies on days when adrenaline kicked in. In the spring of her final year of middle school, she received the acceptance letter from U.A. High School. She was thrilled to embark on her hero journey but nervous about the prospect of having to share a class with the boy she had a crush on, Izuku Midoriya, who had also been accepted. During her first week at UA, Akiko was challenged in an unexpected way. During their initial training session, she and Izuku were paired for a rescue mission simulation. Izuku was always supportive of her quirk and even complimented her unique appearance. This acknowledgement blossomed a hope in Akiko's heart - hope that perhaps Izuku could return her feelings. However, their moment of camaraderie was interrupted by an unexpected twist to the training session; their building began to collapse, trapping Izuku underneath heavy debris. Panic flooded Akiko's two minds, but she knew she had to try and utilize her quirk to save Izuku. Emotions running high, Akiko initiated her duplication process. One, two, three clones appeared, each attempting to lift the debris off Izuku. Despite their combined efforts, the debris was too heavy. Akiko discerned that she had to push past her usual limit to rescue Izuku. Ignoring her exhaustion, she forced out two more clones but that still wasn’t enough. With Izuku's panicked gaze upon her, she felt a surge of determination. 'Could I push myself to double my limit?' she thought. Driven by her feelings for Izuku and her friends’ encouragement, she summoned her remaining strength and pushed past her own limits. One by one, four more clones materialized and immediately worked together to free Izuku. As the clones detached debris piece by piece, her energy drained disproportionately. Her vision started to blur, and she staggered, holding herself up through sheer determination and adrenaline. As the clones finally managed to lift the last piece of debris, Izuku sprang forth to safety. The instant Izuku was free, Akiko felt her last vestiges of energy leaving her. She collapses but a smile of relief and pride etched on her faces. Izuku and the rest of the class rushed to her, grateful and awestruck by her unyielding bravery. The aftermath certainly proved to be a significant hurdling block for Akiko, but it became the stepping stone for her to embrace a new level to her quirk's power and her dormant feelings for Izuku. The journey for the 'Duet' was merely beginning - a path filled with adventure, friendship, heroism, self-discovery and perhaps, a little more than a simple crush.
