Executive Summary: The National Archives of Zimbabwe provided an excellent platform for the completion of my industrial attachment. This executive summary presents a comprehensive overview of my learning journey, which has immensely contributed to my professional development and has given me valuable insights into the archival sector. During my tenure at the National Archives, my primary responsibilities encompassed digitizing records, cataloging documents, aiding in research requests, and maintaining the archives. Keeping myself engaged in these activities helped me to gain in-depth knowledge and practical experience of archival procedures and methods which are inherently critical to the sector. Critical milestones achieved during the placement included understanding various software used in information management, mastering preservation techniques, and exploring significant aspects of legal and policy matters related to public records. Moreover, I was able to help the organization enhance its records management system, which resulted in improved access to public records, thereby promoting their mission of preservation and access to the national heritage. The most outstanding learning points gleaned from the experience were the intricate dynamics of archival procedures and the significance of record-keeping in safeguarding national heritage. While there were challenges encountered, the attachment's overall value cannot be understated, as it has immensely impacted my personal, academic, and professional perspectives.
