Question: During this school year, what have you learned about yourself that has influenced or guided your instructional practices? (200 words)
Over the course of this school year, I have learned a great deal about myself and how my personality and work ethic can shape and guide my instructional practices. One of the most important lessons that I have learned is that I am a person who thrives on structure and routine. I have found that creating a consistent daily plan for myself and for my students can make a huge difference in the level of learning that takes place. Knowing when and how I need to plan and organize my classroom activities has enabled me to plan lessons that are well-thought out and engaging. I have also learned that I am a person who values collaboration. I have found that the best way to ensure that my instructional practices are effective and successful is to collaborate with people in my school community. I have enjoyed being able to work with my peers and other staff members to get feedback and new ideas on how to go about teaching. By seeking out advice and tips from others, I have been able to develop strategies and lesson plans that meet the needs of my students. Additionally, I have come to understand the importance of taking care of myself. This school year has been stressful and challenging, and I have found that it is essential to make time for myself in order to avoid burnout. I make sure to prioritize self-care by engaging in activities that help me relax and stay energized. This allows me to approach instruction with a positive attitude, which in turn is beneficial for all of my students. Overall, I am grateful for the lessons I have learned this school year. These lessons have opened my eyes to what I need to do in order to be an effective and successful educator.
