Chapter 1: The Painful Memories of Childhood Davion sat in his plush office chair, gazing out the window at the bustling city below, contemplating the phone call that had brought him out of his pleasant reverie. He had been 20 years old when he left his family behind, determined to forge his own path in life, far away from the pain and abuse of his past. Growing up, Davion had always felt like he was the black sheep of the family. His father had abandoned them when he was just a toddler, leaving his mother to raise him and his older brother Mondrell on her own. But instead of pulling their family together, Davion's mother had turned into a cold, narcissistic woman who took out all her frustrations on her youngest son. Mondrell, on the other hand, had always been the golden child in her eyes. He was tall and athletic, with a charming smile and an easy way of making people like him. But behind closed doors, even he was not immune to their mother's rage, which was always reserved for Davion. Davion shuddered as he remembered the times when he had been hit, yelled at and belittled by his mother. He had always been the one to get blamed for everything, while Mondrell got off scot-free. Davion's mother never missed a chance to tell him how worthless he was, how he would never amount to anything. But Davion had refused to let his past dictate his future. He had worked hard, studying at night while holding down a job during the day, determined to make something of himself. And eventually, he had succeeded beyond even his own expectations. He had lost touch with his mother and brother after leaving home. It had been painful to walk away from his family, but he knew that he couldn't keep subjecting himself to their abuse. And for a long time, he had been content with that decision. Until today, when he had received a call from a number he didn't recognize. Davion sighed, rubbing his temples. He had no idea what to expect from that phone call. All he knew was that it had been a long time since he had heard from his mother or his brother, and he wasn't sure he was ready to face his painful past once again. But after taking a deep breath, he steeled himself and picked up the phone.
