5 Problems That We've Identified As Priority

1. Insufficient access to quality education: During our consultation, we found that there is a significant gap in the quality of education available within the community, particularly for disadvantaged students. This problem warrants priority because addressing educational inequalities has the potential to improve socio-economic mobility and long-term outcomes for a large number of individuals. 2. High unemployment rate: Thembi and Khwezi expressed concerns about the local unemployment rate, which seems to be on the rise. Addressing this problem is important to ensure that individuals have the opportunity to secure steady income, maintain financial stability, and contribute to the local economy. 3. Lack of access to affordable healthcare: Another key issue we identified is the limited access to affordable healthcare within the community. This problem deserves attention because untreated health issues may have ramifications on individuals' capacity to work or attend school, negatively impacting their overall well-being and that of their families. 4. Environmental pollution: In discussing local concerns, we discovered that pollution (e.g., air, water, and litter) has been affecting the quality of life in the area. Prioritizing this issue will not only enhance the livability of the city but also protect the environment and human health. 5. Crime and safety concerns: Lastly, Thembi and Khwezi pointed out several incidents of crime, including thefts and assaults, taking place within the community. Addressing this concern requires immediate attention to restore a sense of safety and security, ultimately allowing residents to feel confident in conducting their daily activities without fear.
