A box of Oreos. 174. 4. A bag of Sour Patch Kids. 175. 5. A can of Pringles. 176. 6. A bottle of Gatorade. 177. 7. A package of Twinkies. 178. 8. A bottle of Sprite. 179. Veronica grabbed a few things for herself. 180. She headed over to the liquor cabinet. 181. "I need help over here!" she called out in an urban Chicago accent. 182. A store employee arrived to assist. 183. "I'll take a bottle of Jack Daniel's and a bottle of Absolut Vodka," Veronica requested. 184. "Sure, ma'am," the employee said with a smile. 185. The female cashier asked for ID, still smiling. 186. Veronica got confused and frustrated. 187. "Why the *bleep* do I need to show ID? I'm clearly old enough!" 188. The cashier tried to explain. 189. "I just need a glimpse of it, ma'am, for the cameras." 190. Veronica went into a rant. 191. "Do you see these wrinkles?" 192. "I'm 63 years old, for crying out loud!" 193. "The name is Veronica Thompson, does that sound young to you?" 194. "What under-21 person has a name like Veronica?" 195. "You're offending me by even asking!" 196. "I've been drinking longer than you've been alive!" 197. The cashier apologized. 198. "Don't worry about it, miss. I'm sorry for offending you." 199. Veronica continued to lecture the cashier. 200. "You better learn how to treat a lady! Come on, know your place!" 201. Veronica went to the manager. 202. She felt offended by how they had treated her. 203. "I feel so disrespected," Veronica said. 204. "My name is Veronica Thompson, and I’m old enough to be your grandma!" 205. "You better teach your staff how to treat elderly women!" 206. Veronica got home and yelled for Lily to help with groceries. 207. "Lily, get your *bleep* down here and help with the groceries!" 208. Veronica clarified the rules. 209. "The snacks and drinks are only for after dinner, got it?" 210. "You must ask for permission to touch any of them." 211. "If I catch you sneaking them, you'll be grounded!" 212. "Or worse, I'll take away all your favorite toys!" 213. Veronica poured herself a glass of Jack Daniel’s. 214. She drank it while still wearing her casual outfit. 215. Her purse sat next to her on the couch. 216. "Damn, this Jack Daniel's is hitting the spot," she said loudly. 217. Veronica thought back to earlier when Lily's friend annoyed her. 218. "That little brat was getting on my nerves," she ranted. 219. "I needed to calm down in my room." 220. "He even followed me in there! What a pest!" 221. Veronica tried to remember what happened in the room. 222. She saw Lily's friend come in but couldn't remember more. 223. "Why was he following me?" she muttered. 224. Later, Veronica was in her room. 225. She complimented herself on her looks and how she handled Lily. 226. "Veronica Thompson, you handled that well!" 227. "You're a stunning 63-year-old!" 228. "You know how to keep your daughter in line." 229. "You always stay in control of situations." 230. "You're the best mother and the hottest woman around!" 231. Veronica sat down at her vanity. 232. She admired her reflection again. 233. "What a masterpiece!" she thought. 234. She started fixing her hair. 235. Lily approached the door. 236. She knocked gently. 237. “Mom, can I come in?” Lily asked. 238. Veronica sighed but allowed her daughter in. 239. “What do you need, Lily?” 240. Lily just wanted to hug her mom. 241.
