List of Elaine’s rant: 1. “Didn’t I just tell you ‘not before dinner’?” 2. “Trying to make me the bad guy here?” 3. “I didn’t bust my ass for you to be a spoiled brat.” 4. “Chicago parenting at its finest!” 5. “Get it in your thick skull!” 6. “Just like your father, always questioning me.” 7. “You don’t deserve these snacks!” 8. “Don’t make me lose it, girl!” 87. Elaine then poured herself a glass of Maker's Mark. 88. “Damn, this Maker's is good!” she declared happily. 89. Sipping her drink, she remembered the earlier incident. 90. “That little boy got on my nerves,” she fumed. 91. “He wouldn’t leave me alone, driven me to my room,” she ranted. 92. She vaguely recalled him following her into the room, but no clearer memory surfaced. 93. Deciding on a punishment for her daughter, Elaine claimed all the snacks for herself. 94. Slipping her flip-flops back on and grabbing her purse, she went to the kitchen. 95. She pulled out all the snacks meant for her daughter, spreading them on the counter. 96. “Come here, sweetie!” she called out, pretending friendliness. 97. Her daughter appeared, looking confused. 98. “These snacks are mine now!” Elaine lectured sternly. 99. Elaine then started eating and drinking everything until nothing was left. 100. “Mom, that was my food!” her daughter cried out. 101. Elaine replied sternly. “You’ll learn to listen to me, understand?” 102. Elaine never believed she had done anything wrong. 103. “I sure hope my daughter learns to be the same kind of parent I am when she grows up.” 104. That night, Elaine sat in her room, still wearing her tank top, shorts, and flip-flops. 105. She continued complimenting herself. “Elaine, you handled that perfectly.” 106. “Look at you, 65 and still got it,” she praised herself. 107. “Not a single wrinkle out of place.” 108. “This is how a real lady manages a household,” she said. 109. “My daughter will learn to respect me,” she concluded. 110. As she proudly reflected on her actions, Elaine never once recalled ever being anyone else.
